Linings
Inside the garments,
a detail of style
At the beginning of its history, Dragoni specialized in the production of linings, which for decades were its core business.
From the very start, the choice was made to assign the lining a role that went beyond its functionality: for Dragoni, the lining is an embellishment that adds value to any garment. This vision still guides us today.
In addition to making the garment easier to wear, our linings increase comfort. Breathable and lightweight, they resist wear and tear, helping to protect the outer fabric.
Finally, whether chosen in harmony or in deliberate contrast with the outer fabric, they enhance the aesthetic of the garment.
POCKET LININGS, WAISTBANDS AND BODY LININGS
Resistance and lightness, durability and comfort
Our production includes pocket and waistband linings, body linings, and jacquard linings.
Pocket and waistband linings must have specific characteristics of resistance and durability, as they withstand continuous friction (hands in pockets, rubbing) and must maintain their shape even after frequent washing. For this reason, they are made of cotton or a cotton/polyester blend. Stripes or simple patterns can provide an aesthetic contribution.
Body linings are used for the interior of the garment’s body: they improve the fit of the suit and cover internal seams to ensure maximum comfort. The materials used are typically cupro, viscose, and a cotton/viscose blend for a versatile lining.
Dragoni also specializes in the creation of jacquard linings, where motifs and designs are woven directly into the fabric structure. A solution that combines technical function, aesthetic refinement, and garment recognizability.
OUR PROCESSES
A journey of care and precision
After a careful initial inspection, the raw fabrics begin their journey: removal of impurities, mercerization, and bleaching for cotton—a treatment based on soda and hydrogen peroxide that makes the fiber more compact and resistant, facilitating the absorption of dyes.
This is followed by the delicate dyeing phase, which defines the appearance of the lining based on the garments for which it will be used.
The process then moves to finishing, the set of treatments that define the other aesthetic and functional characteristics of the fabric.
In several cases, printing follows to add motifs or textures.
Discover the processes
Dyeing
The process for dyeing linings varies depending on the base fabric. The objective is to achieve uniform colors, wash and rub fastness, and light resistance.
Finishing
It primarily aims to improve the smoothness and dimensional stability of the lining. The goal is to make it smooth, shiny, and soft, or stiffer and more compact, depending on its intended use.
Printing
Different techniques are used depending on whether the goal is to apply simple motifs and patterns or complex gradients and details with brilliant colors.
